About WebDevEmpire
WebDevEmpire is an indie incremental game inspired by web development, software architecture, and the realities of running a digital product. Build your own web agency from a garage startup to a global enterprise by hiring developers, completing modules, upgrading infrastructure, and balancing operational costs as your company scales.
The project is developed as a personal hobby by a professional web developer and serves both as a creative outlet and a technical experiment. It combines economic simulation, progression systems, and interface design within a browser-based environment powered by Blazor.
Project Status
WebDevEmpire is in active alpha. The core gameplay loop is fully playable with multiple interconnected systems. New features, balance adjustments, and UI improvements are introduced regularly.
Game Systems
Modules & Development â Complete web development projects across 5 tiers of complexity. Each module requires Frontend and Backend Development Points (DP) and generates recurring income once finished. Choose between exclusive tech stacks like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Team Management â Hire developers across 6 experience levels (Intern to Architect) and 3 specializations (Frontend, Backend, Fullstack). Each developer generates DP automatically but demands a salary, so scaling your team is a balancing act.
Offices & Equipment â Rent office space from a small garage up to an enterprise campus to increase your developer capacity. Equip your team with better hardware to boost their productivity.
Infrastructure â Upgrade your hosting from shared servers to dedicated cloud infrastructure. Higher tiers multiply your traffic and DPS output.
Upgrades â Purchase one-time improvements across four categories: Programming Skills, Tooling, CI/CD, and Architecture. Each unlock provides permanent bonuses to clicking power, DPS, bug reduction, or income.
Bugs & Stability â Developing modules can introduce bugs that reduce your income. Fix them by spending money and DP, or invest in quality upgrades to prevent them from appearing.
Random Events â Viral traffic spikes, hackathons, enterprise contracts, server outages, security breaches, and market crashes can happen at any time, keeping gameplay dynamic.
Prestige â Once your company has grown large enough, reset your progress in exchange for permanent skill points. Invest them across four branches: Income, Development, Quality, and Management.
Achievements â Over 60 milestones tracking your progress across modules, hiring, bug fixing, earnings, infrastructure, and events.
Design Philosophy
The goal of WebDevEmpire is to create an incremental game that reflects the structure and challenges of real-world software development. Instead of focusing on rapid clicking or flashy visuals, the game emphasizes planning, specialization, and sustainable growth.
Concepts such as developer roles, infrastructure limits, operational expenses, and scaling inefficiencies are central to the experience. Progress is driven by strategic decisions rather than short-term optimization alone.
Monetization & Advertising
To help cover hosting and ongoing development costs, this website displays advertisements on selected informational pages such as this one. Advertisements are never shown during gameplay or within interactive game interfaces.
All ads are served through Google AdSense and are placed in accordance with Google's program policies and quality guidelines.
Feedback & Community
Player feedback is an important part of the development process. Suggestions, balance discussions, and bug reports help shape future updates and improvements.
If you find a bug or have an idea, feel free to reach out through the support channels on the main site. The game is actively maintained and your input directly shapes future updates.
